Even self-confessed computer lovers
sometimes have a hard time shopping whenever they need to upgrade their
computers. But they’re not to blame of course because when it comes to
computer hardware, there seems just too much to remember! And of course,
let’s face it. Those who are more into computer software usually don’t
know a thing about computer hardware and vice versa.
If you want to have an easy time when it comes to buying computer hardware
parts and other related items, do read on to ensure that you’ll have fun
and not get cheated out of your hard-earned money the next time you visit
the computer store.
Hard Disk Drives
This storage media device lets you know the amount of space you can use to
save your files. Ordinarily, a 20-40GB hard disk drive would do but that
truly depends on your needs.
Mouse
There are two types of mouse that are out in the market right now: the
ball mouse and the optical mouse. Always go for the latter because not
only is it easier to use, it’s easier to clean as well. Secondly, when
purchasing a mouse, make sure that it has a scroll button because it makes
navigation easier.
If you’d like to purchase a wireless mouse, there are those that rely on
radio signals alone while newer versions rely on Bluetooth. Be warned
however that you must have at least one extra pair of batteries and a
battery charger to ensure continued use.
Keyboard
A multimedia keyboard is always a good choice when it comes to purchasing
keyboards because besides offering you the usual set of keys, it also
provides the user with extra buttons to make it easier to watch videos and
listen to music with your personal computer.
Some keyboards also come with attachable boards so that no undue strain
would be placed on the user’s wrists. Lastly, there are of course wireless
keyboards as well but once again, you would need an extra set of
rechargeable batteries to maintain continuous use.
External Connectors
USB ports, infrared, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi – these are examples of external
connectors that computers may be equipped with. Just make sure that
purchase only what you need.
Other Computer Peripherals:
Scanner – The slimmer, the more expensive. But that shouldn’t be the thing
that you should be primarily concerned of. Rather, concentrate on the
image resolution of the files that it scans.
Printer – It’s always preferable to go for a colored, laser jet printer
because it can print even photographs of vivid colors and superior
quality!
